Another In Conversation Webinar was conducted between Prof. Saroj Jayasinghe, Consultant Physician and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Colombo and Prof. Carole Mundell, the Chief International Science Envoy of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. This ‘In Conversation’ Webinar organized by the Pathfinder Foundation addressed some of the key areas related to COVID 19 as well as the historical development of scientific advocacy in the UK, the institutions and processes used by successive governments to obtain advice from science advisors in the UK and its parallel course of action in Sri Lanka. The discussion explored how scientists cope when there is lack of objective evidence, controversies arise or when issues are politically sensitive. It is also expected that the conversation will focus on novel concepts such as post-normal science, co-production of knowledge and tapping into collective intelligence.
